Animation with Love: The Work of Osamu Tezuka |

This year marks the 80th anniversary of Osamu Tezuka's birth.
Born on November 3, 1928, in Toyonaka City, Osaka, Osamu Tezuka was a great pioneer and ground-breaking figure in the world of manga comics and animation, the pride of Japan throughout the world.
Raising manga comics to works of culture, Tezuka's achievement of spreading animation to the broader public is immeasurable.
Osamu Tezuka was a passionate artist who never lost his pioneering spirit and continued throughout his lifetime to disseminate the values of love, peace, and the preciousness of human life through manga and animation.
He was also involved in the teaching of the next generation in his position as the first president of the Japan Animation Association.

Osamu Tezuka continued to work at the forefront of manga and animation through his lifetime. He sadly passed away in Tokyo on February 9, 1989, at the age of sixty.A large-scale exhibition of his work was held at The National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo, the only one of its kind to be held for a manga and animation artist.
His great achievements are currently honored at the Osamu Tezuka Manga Museum, located in Takarazuka City, Hyogo Prefecture, where he spent his adolescence.
"Broken Down Film" was awarded the Grand Prix at the 1st International Animation Festival HIROSHIMA.
At the 2nd Festival Tezuka served as one of the international Jury members.
The 3rd Festival included a commemorative program, "Homage to Osamu Tezuka".
